Nashville, TN - Kevin Sorbo stars with Amy Grant in the Howie Klausner-scripted indie feature, “The Secret Handshake.” The movie was filmed in Nashville and is directed by Klausner and produced by Timothy D. Brown. “The Secret Handshake” is a heartwarming comedy of men and boys learning together what it takes to be a man.
Sorbo starred in the hit TV series, “Hercules, the Legendary Journeys” and “God's Not Dead,” one of the country's top independent films of 2014. He plays the father in “The Secret Handshake” and has three children of his own.
“When I read the script, I laughed out loud because I could relate to everything,” says Sorbo. “It's a wonderful story.”
Grant has sold over 30 million albums worldwide and stars as the mother of one of the troubled boys. “I've always pictured Amy in this role and her performance is absolutely stunning,” says Klausner.
Klausner began his career as a Hollywood filmmaker nearly two decades ago, co-writing the 2000 Clint Eastwood blockbuster “Space Cowboys.” He has since moved to Nashville and formed Town Square Pictures with Brown.
The film was shot entirely on location, taking advantage of Tennessee's beautiful back roads, mountains and rivers.
A Red Carpet Premiere will be held in Nashville, May 27, 2015, and a limited number of tickets are available to the general public. After the premiere, the film will release in select theaters May 28, 2015 and then available on home video exclusively at Walmart early June, in time for Father's Day.
