“By composing and remixing music, students learn Python or JavaScript programming in a creative context, allowing for experimentation with music and code without prior knowledge of either one,” Kids 4 Coding Co-Founder and Belmont University graduate Denise Detamore explains.
Detamore hopes that offering a fresh approach to learning programming languages will encourage more students to get excited about acquiring this technical knowledge.
“Our Coding Through Music course strongly supports our mission – propelling youth to tech readiness. Technology impacts every aspect of society and industry, from agriculture to commerce to healthcare, but many schools offer only a few tech courses that don’t always appeal to the entire student population. Music is a universal language that engages all types of students. This class allows us to meet kids on their level, then show them how they can use technology to create and share ideas with others in any field of interest” says Detamore.
Kids 4 Coding also offers half-day and full-day programs where kids can learn key coding skills through Minecraft, Roblox, Game Design, Drones, Robots, Web Development, Mobile App Design and more.With multiple locations in Atlanta and Boston, Kids 4 Coding expands its footprint to the Music City’s Belmont University with sessions for youth ages 7-16 running June 4 through June 29.
Weekly fees range from $339 to $879, with early bird discounts available through March 31. Tuition includes a t-shirt, healthy snacks and a certificate of completion.
